ASI Quality Program

Quality Program Overview

At Automatic Systems, we know quality is a multi-faceted process, which must involve the entire organization to be truly effective. ASI's quality program includes engineering quality control tools, verification and documentation of manufacturing and installation quality, start-up support tools, maintenance manuals, preventative maintenance instructions, and more.

ISO Qualifications

ASI's Quality System was certified to the ISO 9001-1994 and QS 9000/TE standards in November of 1998 and recertified in September of 2001 by TÜV Management Service of North America. Surveillance audits are conducted every six months. TÜV conducted a full audit in the fall of 2004 and again in November of 2007. ASI is currently certified to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. (QS9000 has been phased out.)

ASI's Environmental System was certified to ISO 14001 in October of 2001 and recertified in 2004 and 2007. Surveillance Audits are conducted for 14001 annually.

Q1 Award

On July 19, 2000 Larry Miller, of Purchasing at Ford Motor Company, presented Automatic Systems, Inc. with the Q1 Award. The Ford Q1 Award indicates that ASI is recognized as a Tier 1 and preferred supplier to Ford Motor Company and represents certifications and enhancements beyond the industry.s standard requirements.

In order to receive the Q1 Award, ASI had to pass Ford's Quality Operating System (QOS) Assessment. The Assessment involves criteria in communication, teamwork, management review, measurables, quantifying tools, continuous improvement and dynamic processes. Along with his congratulations, Miller presented ASI with a Q1 plaque.

"With Ford's Q1 rating, we have now been certified to all of the material handling industries highest levels of quality standards including: ISO 9001-1994, QS 9000/TE Second Edition and Ford QOS. Receiving our Ford Q1 Award and Quality Management System Certifications was a team effort. All ASI associates put forth their best effort in a spirit of continuous improvement in order to achieve this goal," says Ed Miller, Quality Assurance Manager for ASI.
